Lewis
Lewis started training martial arts after graduating university as a way of getting fit, making new friends, and trying something new that he was interested in – having watched a lot of mixed martial arts promotions.
He wasn’t drawn to traditional martial arts and wanted something immediately practical, so began training in Krav Maga and Filipino Martial Arts (FMA). He was instantly hooked and trained four nights a week for his first two years.
Lewis joined Masters Academy Bristol when the club opened and has been a part of the furniture ever since, becoming an instructor in 2017.
He’s recently taken up Japanese Jiu Jitsu and has thoroughly enjoyed incorporating locks, throws, and submissions into his striking and weapons-based training.
One of Lewis’s responsibilities at the club is to focus on new students. He knows what it’s like to be a beginner and wants to help during the first few months of training to ensure everyone is having fun and learning in a way that is tailored to their individual needs.
